Kathak Kendra, New Delhi- General Rules

1 Students of the Kendra are not allowed to enter into any other arrangement for training in dance outside the Kendra.

2 Students are not allowed to undertake outside employment during their term of study in Kendra.

3 It is essential for the students of the Kendra to participate in all the activities of the Kendra, otherwise penal action may be taken against him.

4 Students of Diploma (Hons.) - 3rd Year and Post Diploma - 1st & 2nd Year, can participate in outside programmes with prior permission from the Director. If they become a part of any programme without obtaining prior permission they may be rusticated from Kendra.

5 Students are not allowed to invite visitors or friends or relatives to any of the classes, lectures or rehearsals without seeking permission from the kendra's office.

6 The students are expected to be regular in their classes. The minimum percentage of attendance for elementary courses is 65%. For advance courses the minimum required percentage of attendance is – 90% (Dance / Tabla / Pakhawaj) for both practical & theory. 80% attendance is required in Vocal / Tabla / Pakhawaj and Yoga as allied subjects. A student will NOT be allowed in any case, to appear in examinations if he/she falls short of required attendance which will tantamount to failure. In such cases only ONCE the student will be given a chance for re-admission in the next session.

7 If a student attends only dance class and fails to attend the allied subject classes his / her attendance will not be taken into account for that day so far as calculation for the scholarships money is concerned.

8 Student, disqualifying in practical paper of main subject in the final examination are declared FAILED. Such students may complete their course by taking re¬admission in next academic session. Only ONCE the student will be given a chance for re-admission in the next session. In case of any re-admission the student will be deprived off all financial facilities provided by the Kendra.

9 If a student fails or remains absent in final examinations he/she will have to take re-admission in next academic session. Only ONCE the student will be given a chance for re-admission in the next session.

10 A student failing in theory paper of main subject or in practical of any allied subject(s) (max. of two subjects) in the final examination of any academic session, will have to undergo supplementary examination. Student diqualifying or being absent in the supplementary exam will neither be allowed to continue his/her training nor would be admitted in any other course of the Kendra.

11 It would be essential for the students to pass in each subject individually and in aggregate, i.e. Dance practical, stage performance, dance theory, Vocal, Tabla/Pakhawaj and Yogabhyaas exams.

12 If a student is absent without written application and permission for continuously 30 days, his/her will be struck-off from the rolls of the Kendra. Re-admission will be considered only ONCE in special circumstances.

13 It would be essential for the students to wear white dress during the term of their training seesion. Girls will wear white Salwaar-Kameez. No low neck and slits are allowed. Boys will wear white Kurta-Payjama.

14 Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited during class hours.

15 Students violating the rules are liable to disciplinary action or even may be expelled from the Kendra.
