JNMDA - Admission

Academic year from -

a) The Course is open to all candidates but the subjects are allotted on the basis of their suitability, aptitude and merit.
b) Candidates for the Foundation & Diploma are interviewed by a Selection Committee before admission to classes.
c) 10 candidates are selected for award of scholarship (5 for Dance and 5 for Sankirtana) for the Diploma Course.
d) For the Post-Diploma Course 5 students are selected in order of merit for award of scholarship in five disciplines (Ras, Lai-Haraoba, Pung, Ishei, Cholom).
e) Application for admission should be submitted to the Pradhan Guru on a prescribed form available on payment of Rs. 5/- from the office and the prospectus can be had from the office on payment of Rs. 15/-.
f) Age for admission to the courses;
a. Foundation Course------Between 12-15 years
b. Diploma Course -------- Between 15-18 years
c. Post Diploma Course----Between 18-27 years
g) Admission to the Second and Third years of Foundation Course may be allowed for deserving students who have received qualifying level of training outside. An admission test will be held for such admission.
h) For Diploma Course outside students may be admitted after examination to the first year. No outside student may be admitted in Second and Third years of the Diploma Course.
i) For Post Diploma Course only those who have passed Diploma Course of JNMDA should be eligible for admission. No fresh students from outside can be admitted.
j) Re-admission to classes is permissible on payment of re-admission fees along with all outstanding dues viz. fees for the period of absence etc. and subject to the approval of the Pradhan Guru.
k) Students who have failed in an examination and who seek re-admission are required to apply on the prescribed form within the time limit laid down for new students.
l) Students expelled from the Academy may be re-admitted, after a certain period laid down by the competent authority of the Academy.

Diploma Course Rs. 25.00

b) TUITION FEES

Foundation Course -- Rs. 10.00 per month
Diploma Course -- Rs. 20.00 per month
Post Diploma Course -- Rs. 25.00 per month

c) CAUTION MONEY (Refundable, for all Course)
Library Caution -- Rs. 25/-
General Caution -- Rs. 25/-

Students are required to pay tuition fees and other dues on or before the 10th of each month. A fine of Rs. 1/- will be charged for each subsequent day. If the tuition fees and other dues are not paid by the 25th of the month, the name of the defaulting students will be struck off the rolls.


COURSE OF TRAINING

The courses offered at the Academy are Foundation Course (3 years), Diploma Course (3 years) and Post-Diploma Course (3 years). The subjects taught are Raas, Lai-Haraoba, Nat Sankirtan (Ishei), Nat-Sankirtan (Cholom), Nat-Sankirtan (Pung), Tribal Dance and Thang-Ta (Foundation Course only for the latter two).
