The Hornbill Festival 2006 was organized by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Nagaland, supported by Sangeet Natak Akademi. The festival was held from 1 to 7 December 2006 featuring presentations by the following tribes: Angami, Ao,
Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungam, Konyak, Kuki, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Zeliang. The festival was inaugurated by Shri Shyamlal Dutta, Governor of Nagaland, on 1 December 2006.
