S. Anandan received his initial training in Nagaswaram
from Shri Thirupulivanam E. Uthrakumar, and later
studied under Shri T.S. Latchappa Pillai at the Tamil
Nadu Government Music College, Chennai; he qualified
the Vadya Kalaimani in Nagaswaram. He also received
special training in Nagaswaram from Shri Palapattu
R. Rajendran. He has been performing all over India
for the past fifteen years. He is a regular broadcaster
with All India Radio, Chennai.

Swarna Rayaprolu - Carnatic Vocal
Swarna Rayaprolu learnt music from late Shri Susarla
Sivaram and has been receiving advanced training from
Hyderabad Brothers since 1985. A graded artist with
All India Radio and Doordarshan, Swarna Rayaprolu
has participated in many national festivals, organized
by various Sabhas and organizations in India and abroad.
She has received many awards like the Bala Ratna from
Andhra Balananda Sangham, Bala Viswakalajyoti from
Viswa Kala Parishad, and the Child Prodigy by the
Academy of Fine Arts. She has released an audio-cassette
and a CD on Carnatic classical music in Singapore.
Swarna Rayaprolu received the central government scholarship
through the CCRT, New Delhi. She has also served as
a judge for many competitions conducted by various
organizations.

Hafiz B. Khan - Sitar
Born in a reputed family of musicians, Hafiz Khan
received his training in Sitar from his grandfather
Prof. A. Karim Khan, his father Ustad Balekhan, who
is Professor of Sitar at Karnataka College, Dharwad,
and from his Uncle Prof. Hamid Khan. Hafiz Khan is
a post-graduate in music and has been a recipient
of a scholarship from the Government of India. He
has to his credit a large number of solo performances.

"Suswaralaya" Instrumental Ensemble
Suswaralaya College of Music provides training to
young musicians. The college also organizes performances,
seminars, workshops and discussions with specific
themes to encourage active participation and involvement
of music-lovers. The director of the instrumental
ensemble is Shri H.S. Sudhindra, managing trustee
and principal of Suswaralaya. The other participating

Shobana received her training in Veena from late
Smt. Jayalakshmi Narayanaswami at an early age. Presently,
she is receiving training from Smt. Revathi Srinivasan,
staff artist, All India Radio, Chennai.
Shobana is a post-graduate in Indian music and is
pursuing her M. Phil. at the Department of Indian
Music, University of Madras. She has given many public
performances on All India Radio and Doordarshan

Sangeet Mishra - Sarangi
Born in a family of famous Sarangi gharana of Benaras,
Sangeet Mishra acquired vocal skills from his grandfather
late Pt. Narayan Das Mishra at a very young age. He
took his initial training in Sarangi from Guru Pt.
Bhagwan Das Mishra and further honed his style by
learning Gayaki and Tantrakari from his father Pt.
Santosh Kumar Mishra. Sangeet Mishra started performing
at an age of nine. Thereafter, he performed in many
concerts like the Ganga Mahotsav, Sankat Mochan Mahotsav,
and Gaya Mahotsav. He has also performed as an accompanist
with many eminent vocalists, dancers, tabla and pakhawaj
players. He has participated in many competitions
and won prizes.

Shubhashree Ramachandran - Carnatic Vocal
Shubhashree Ramachandran received her training in
Carnatic vocal music from her parents, Shri Trichur
V. Ramachandran and Smt. Charumathi Ramachandran,
both eminent musicians. She is learning Carnatic vocal
music from Smt. D.K. Pattammal and Hindustani music
from Smt. Meera Sawoor.
Shubhashree gave her first concert at the age of
fourteen, and has many concerts to her credit. Shubhashree
is an artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan.
She has a vast repertoire of compositions of kritis,
padams, javalis, bhajans and tillanas in her own unique
style. She has given vocal support to her mother in
Austraila, USA, UK, Australia, Sri Lanka, Singapore,
Malaysia, Germany, and Hong Kong. A graduate in Economics,
she has studied French, and is a diploma-holder in
interior design and multimedia graphics. Shubhashree
has also acted and sung as Meera Bai, Seetha, and
a devotee of Kanakadasa in her mother's operatic stage
productions, where she also worked as an assistant
producer.
Shubhashree has received many honours and awards
including the Sahitya Priya Award of Jan Kalyan instituted
by Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Mutt,
the Yuva Kala Bharathi Award in 2002 by Bharath Kalachar
Organization, and a scholarship from the Government
of India.

Amith A. Nadig - Carnatic Flute
Born in a family of musicians, Amith A. Nadig started
his initial training in flute under his father Shri
B.K. Anantharam at an age of four. Amith gave his
first performance at the age of ten. A regular performer
at the Thyagaraja Aradhana at Thiruvayyur, Amith has
so far given hundreds of recitals and has won many
prizes, awards and scholarships including the central
government scholarship by CCRT.

Afzal Husain - Dhrupad
Born in a family of musicians, Afzal Husain received
his initial training in vocal music from his grandfather
Mohmood Khan. He received training in Dhrupad from
the renowned Dhrupad artists Ustad Zia Fariduddin
Dagar, Zia Mohiuddin Dagar in the guru-¬shishya
parampara at the Dhrupad Kendra, Bhopal. Today, Afzal
is considered to be one of the finest Dhrupad singers
of the younger generation
Afzal Husain has many concerts to his credit including
Dhrupad Samaroh, Bhopal, Tansen Samaroh, Gwalior,
Dhurpad Mela, Varanasi, Kumar Gandharva Festival,
Swami Haridas Music Festival, Khajurao Festial, and
Ellora Festival. He has been awarded the national
scholarship by the Government of India. He has given
many performances over All India Radio and Doordarshan.
Presently, Afzal Husain is teaching Dhrupad at Naad
Foundation, Aurangabad.

Dwaram Lakshmi - Carnatic Vocal
Dwaram Lakshmi is the grand-daughter of the violin
wizard Padmashri Dr Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu and
daughter of Shri Dwaram Bhavanarayana Rao and Veena
Vidushi Smt. Dwaram Venkata Varadamma. She has also
received training from Dr M.L. Vasantha Kumari, Dr
Mani Krishnaswamy, Shri Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, Prof.
T.R. Subrahmanyam, Shri P. Surya Rao and Pt. J.V.S.
Rao, besides her parents. Highly proficient in Carnatic
classical music, Lakshmi is equally at ease in the
Hindustani style and renders bhajans of Meera, Tulsidas
and other well-known composers of devotional music.
She is a regular broadcaster with All India Radio
and Doordarshan. She is able to sing songs in 14 Indian
languages.
Dr Dwaram Lakshmi was awarded Ph.D. in Music and
Fine Arts under Dr Padma Subrahmanyan. She has to
her credit a large number of concerts in India and
abroad. She has received many awards including the
Durvasula Bhagavanulu Memorial Gold Medal, and the
outstanding young Indian Award by Jaycees.

Divya B. - Carnatic Veena
Divya B. received her training in Veena from Dr Suma
Sudhindra. She has to her credit a number of solo
and duet concerts and has won many prizes. She is
conducting classes for junior and senior students.
She has played with Dr Suma Sudhindra and has released
many audio-cassettes. An engineering graduate in information
science, Divya is presently working as a software
engineer.

Ranjeet Kumar & Sangeet Kumar received training
in music under the guidance of their father Pt. Ramashish
Pathak of Amata (Darbhanga) gharana of Pakhawaj. They
have given many performances all over India including
NCZCC, Allahabad, Boudh Gaya Mahotsav, and Swami Haridas
Samaroh.

A. Shyam Prakash received his training in music from
Sangeetha Vidwan Shri K.V. Krishnan and Shri V. Subramanian.
He received a fellowship from the Government of India,
and is now doing M.A. in music. He has performed individually,
as well as an accompanist with his guru in various
sabhas and music associations of Chennai. He has received
many prizes and awards like the Yuva Kala Jyothi from
Vedaparayana Trust, Chennai; Ganakala Nipuna award
from Karnataka Sangha; Padma Bharathi from Padma Sarangapani
Cultural Academy, Chennai; and Best Young Artist for
the year 2004-05 from Tamil Nadu Eyal lsai Nataka
Manram.

Tomkur B. Shasishankar – Ghatam
Kumar Mardur - Hindustani Vocal
Hailing from a rich musical family of Dharwad, Kumar
Mardur received his training in music from his father
Pt. Somanath Mardur, a senior desciple of Dr Basavraj
Rajguru of the Kirana gharana. Endowed with a melodious
voice, he is known for pure and aesthetic presentation
of ragas, taan patterns, and his command over laya.
He is an approved artist with All India Radio, Dharwad
and Doordarshan. He has travelled widely all over
India with his father as an accompanying artist. He
holds a Master's degree in music, and has received
many accolades, prizes, and scholarships from the
Karnataka State Sangeeth Nritya Academy, Bangalore,
Avani Rasika Ranga, Dharwad and from the Government
of India. He has to his credit a number of CDs and
cassettes.

Shivanand Salimath – Harmonium
Shashank Maktedar - Hindustani Vocal Music
Shashank Maktedar was initiated into music by his
father, Shri Shamrao Maktedar in his childhood. Later,
he received training from Pt. Nath Naralkar in Aurangabad,
and from Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar at the Sangeet Research
Academy. A post-graduate in music from Nagpur University,
Shashank received many prizes, honours and awards
like the Jadubhatta Puraskar from the Salt Lake Cultural
Association, Kolkata, and Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran
Puraskar by Sangeet Kala Kendra, Mumbai. A regular
performer with All India Radio, Shashank has participated
in many prestigious festivals in India and abroad.
He has to his credit many CDs and cassettes. Presently,
Shashank is working as a lecturer with Goa College
of Music.

Raya Korgaonkar – Harmonium
Viju S. Anand - Carnatic Violin
Hailing from a family with a great tradition of musical
excellence. Viju S. Anand was initiated into music
at a very early age by his grandfather Shri Cherthala
Padmanabhan Bhagavather, his parents Shri Thiruvizha
Sivanandan and Smt. Vijayalakshmi. Later he received
training from Shri Thiruvizha G. Ullas, and pursued
it with Shri Nedumangad Sivanandan. Viju is a post-graduate
in violin from the Delhi University and has received
the scholarship from the Government of India. He is
a B-¬high grade artist with All India Radio and
has accompanied many top-ranking musicians and dancers
in India and abroad.

Manjoor Unnikrishnan – Ghatam
Chandrima Roy - Sarod
Chandrima Roy received her training in classical
vocal music initially from Bhatkhande Music Institute.
Lucknow. Since 1988, she has been learning Sarod from
Pandit Narendra Nath Dhar of Gwalior gharana. She
has participated and proved her competence in various
music competitions like the All India Radio Competition,
UP Sangeet Natak Akademi Competition, Doverlane Music
Competition, and National Sacholarship Test. She received
her post-graduate degree in music from Khairagarh
University. She also holds a post-¬graduate degree
in Economics. Sur Singar Samsad. Mumbai has conferred
her with the title of Surmani. She was awarded the
national scholarship and Junior Research Fellowship
from the Government of India and UP State Government.
Having made a mark at a young age. Chandrima has performed
all over India. Presently, she is teaching Sarod at
Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, where she is credited
with introducing Sarod as a discipline in the Department
of Music.
